How do I apply for an Educational Support Professional vacancy at a school?

School & District based Educational Support Professional vacancies are advertised on the Talent Acquisition & Operations (Non-Instructional) website under the Support Position link. Where do I go to have my fingerprints done if I have been offered a job?

The hiring location will work with the selected candidate, if external, to schedule an appointment for fingerprinting. Internal candidates will be transferred electronically and will not require fingerprinting.Click here for information on finger printing or contact the Security Clearance Department at (754) 321-2374 for additional questions.

How long does it take for a background check to be conducted?

Prospective candidates for employment, are required to fill out the Security Background Check Form. This form gives the candidate the opportunity to reveal any past criminal history and to provide a detailed explanation.

At the time of employment your fingerprints will be researched by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Sealed or expunged records must be revealed to the School Board of Broward County pursuant to F.S. 943.059. Your employment with the Broward County School District is temporary and probationary pending successful processing of your fingerprints. To omit a response or to be untruthful, regardless of any previous information received from an attorney, a judge, or any third party will be considered falsification and is a cause for dismissal from employment or consideration for employment. How long does it take to learn if I have been selected for an interview for a teacher vacancy at a school?

Each school is different. If you are not selected for an interview, some schools will send candidates a response from Applitrack. A candidate may also contact the school 7 days after the posting has expired to ask about the status of the position.

How do I receive credit for my teaching/work experience?

New hires and rehires employed by The School Board of Broward County are eligible to receive credit on the Instructional Salary Schedule for teaching experience and/or directly-related work experience. The experience must be verified and approved prior to receiving credit. It is the responsibility of each employee to have the experience verified upon initial and subsequent employment. The employer verification form will be given to you during your processing appointment. You can also download the form or get more information here.

In order to receive credit, the appropriate verification form must be received and approved by the District no later than four (4) months from the beginning date of employment in any school year to be effective during that school year. Verification received after the initial four (4) months of employment will be credited effective the following school year.

How long is my probation employment period?

All newly hired employees serve a probationary employment period. The time period is specific to the classification for employees. Please click on the following link to access the Collective Bargaining Agreement that governs your position.
