KIDS VOTING BROWARD ANNUAL REPORT

Kids Voting Broward has continued to be the leading organization for voter education in Broward County Schools for over a decade.

Since 1990 we have steadily grown and evolved into a premier organization that continues to inform, educate and motivate the future voters of Broward County. All schools have access to the nationally acclaimed Kids Voting curriculum, either through the Broward public schools Virtual Counselor or individual cd roms. To mirror the adult voting conditions as closely as possible, all elections are held online. In March 2006, 23,299 students voted in our Municipal elections which came close to the approximately 37,000 adults who voted in Broward County. We expect an even greater turnout in the 2012  elections.

The School Board of Broward County has facilitated the online voting and distribution of the curriculum through their Social Studies department. We appreciate their support and commitment to this program and look forward to expanding student and teacher participation in the program.

In partnership with the Supervisor of Elections office, high school students continued to participate in successful voter registration drives. Our students also serve as panelists on candidate forums conducted in partnership with the League of Women Voters and Broward County PTA. In addition, students represented Kids Voting Broward on the live County line election night broadcast as well as at various events around the county.

We thank  you for your support this past year and we look forward to working with all of you to reach even greater heights in the coming years.
