Schools will:
1.1 Create flexible scheduling opportunities which
allow for longer, more integrated instruction, common planning time
for teachers, and increased learning opportunities in the community
setting for students.
1.2 Learn in small learning communities where teams
of teachers are responsible for common groups of students who take
several classes together.
1.3 Support and recognize students through internal and/or
external mentoring, tutoring and advisory programs.

1.5 Build capacity of teachers to identify the needs of - and provide
appropriate supports and accommodations for - multiple student populations.
1.6 Work across the school system to address student needs at critical
transitions, in particular the transition from middle grades to high
school and from high school to post-secondary education and the workforce.
1.7 Involve students in decision-making in their academic and career development.
1.8 Develop academically rigorous curricula that meet or exceed
standards, contain relevant real-world contexts, and build on student
and community assets.
