Module 1: Introduction
Welcome to Unit 6! So far, we have discussed various assessments which are specific to the ESOL program and those used for placement and programmatic assessments. These include the IDEA Proficiency Test Oral (IPT), IPT Reading and Writing, the Kauffman Test of Educational Achievement (K-TEA), Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State (ACCESS for ELLs) as well as the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA).
There are also district-adopted assessments used to determine the progress of students in the area of Reading. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 requires all states to assess student reading performances beginning in 3rd grade and to set objective criteria for adequate performance on the assessment that is given.
In this unit, we review the progress monitoring assessments, which are administered to all students (including ELLs) within the district.
