Roles and Responsibilities

 

ETS:

  1. Provides standardization (See www.broward.k1.2fl.us/techstandards) of wireless network equipment and client devices.
  2. Installs core infrastructure.
  3. Secures the infrastructure to insure only authorized SBBC students, teachers, staff and administrators can access the network.
  4. Manages overall infrastructure ensuring network is stable and secure.
  5. Enforce District networking standards and promote best practices for users.
  6. Designs the infrastructure in four possible topologies
    1. Wireless Building Overlay Coverage - Complete Corner-to-Corner Building Coverage
    2. Wireless One-to-One Coverage - Increased Wireless Overlay coverage with additional AP density to support large wireless bandwidth requirements
    3. Kiosk coverage - Established Cell of Coverage within a building or area
    4. Bridge Topology - Used to extend LAN coverage from the main facility.

 

DEPARTMENT, SCHOOLS & SITES:

  1. Manage individual user accounts / access
  2. Train users to connect to the network
  3. Restrict access to wireless network for unauthorized users
  4. Manage and configure on-site end user devices
  5. Identify network problems and escalates appropriately
  6. Channel all wireless infrastructure change requests through ETS using work-order process described at left.
