The Refresh Staff Development Plan seeks to level the playing field in the use of technology in the schools by building capacity and directly impacting the classroom. Below is an outline of the plan.

All teachers share a knowledge base on effective use of Refresh technology.

2005-2006 Standard Refresh Staff Development (Basic)
 
Innovation Zone Target Group
-- Cadre of School Refresh Facilitators established at each site with an Innovation Zone.
    How – Principals identify trainers. Train the Trainer sessions conducted by Broward Instructional Technology Specialists and Onsite Refresh Consultant.
 
School Staff Target Group
– Instructional Staff at Schools.
    How – Schools develop school action plan for staff development led by School Refresh Facilitators using standard training materials ensure all teachers have same knowledge base.

2006-2007 and 2007-2008 Standard Refresh Staff Development (Basic)

Building Capacity and Directly Impacting the Classroom
Each school has an opportunity for comprehensive school-based staff development for technology integration targeting all levels of technology integration and providing opportunities for growth.

Digital Education Teacher Academy

  • DETA One - Three credit hour graduate course offered by FAU through the Teaching and Leadership Center co-taught by SBBC teachers and FAU professors. Available to all instructional staff and administrators
  • DETA Two – Five day inservice workshop offered to DETA One graduates.
  • DETA Learning Community - Monthly meetings offered to DETA One and DETA Two graduates.
  • DETA for Administrators - Five day inservice workshop offered to all SBBC school-based administrators.
