How long will the train-the-trainer sessions last?
The training will last 6 hours and may be delivered in a variety of formats.

What should the teachers be able to do after completing the train-the-trainer session?
Individuals attending the train-the-trainer session will develop a staff development plan for their schools and they will compile strategies for managing the wireless carts at the school.

Is there a new process for ordering technology equipment?
No.  Schools should continue to use existing procedures for purchasing additional technology components.

Are schools now able to lease computers?
No.  The technology refresh project was part of a one-time leasing agreement.  Additional technology leasing options are not currently available to schools.

How do I handle damaged or broken laptops?
Follow the same procedures as with school purchased laptops.

Should I maintain a separate inventory for refresh wireless cart laptops?
No.  The school-based inventory should include one inventory of both leased and owned equipment.  The inventory should identify leased equipment separately from owned assets.

How do I order additional laptop power cables?
Laptop power cables can be ordered directly from SBBC vendors.  A multi-pack discount is available for orders of five or more.  Additional information is available in the Technology Liaison Contact CAB conference.

Can the wireless cart laptops be distributed to teachers for instructional planning and personal use?
These wireless cart laptops were provided to schools as part of a student computer refresh initiative. Therefore the Department of Instructional Technology recommends that laptops be used for student-centered learning.

Can school purchased laptops be added to wireless carts?
Yes.  The wireless carts provided as part of the technology refresh program are capable of housing 32 laptops.  However, any school purchased laptops should be labeled in order to differentiate between leased and non-leased items.

How does the wireless cart timer work?
The wireless cart timer is preconfigured to charge one row of laptops at a time for a period of two hours.  When the first row charge is complete, the timer switches and begins to charge the second row.

Can the timer settings be changed?
The timer settings may be modified and configured to alternate the charge with more frequency in order to provide a more balanced charge. This can be accomplished by pulling out every other tab on the timer.
