As evidenced in the SES Band Data, which content area(s) will be the focus for improving student achievement and why was this area chosen?

We do not have SES band data due to the unique nature of our school (only K-6 behavior change center). Based on last school year's (2017/2018) ELA FSA data, 64 students took the ELA FSA and 81% of students scored level 1 in ELA or Math. The weakest area for students was integration of knowledge and ideas which was at an average of 19.90% mastery. We are focusing on improving our ELA FSA provisional mastery average by 5% as evidenced by the results of the 2018/2019 ELA FSA.
 

What specific BEST Practice(s) will be implemented or scaled-up to improve teaching and learning in order to increase performance within the SES Band?

 
Pine Ridge Education Center uses specialized text books, curriculum, instructional focus calendars and lesson plans to ensure classroom instruction is aligned to grade-level Florida Standards. The following evidence is collected to ensure that classroom instruction is aligned to grade-level standards: Benchmark Assessment System (BAS), READY, IREADY, TOMA, GO MATH, Math Fluency Diagnostic, and C.A.R.E Package assessments.
 

Describe in detail how the BEST Practice(s) will be scaled-up.

Our plan is to scale up our ELA professional learning communities (PLCs) by providing teachers with professional development on instructional practices regarding integration of knowledge and ideas. We will use iObservaton scores and student data to focus those PLCs on improving instructional practice through a cycle of improvement (PLAN, DO, CHECK and ACT) until we get satisfactory student achievement results.
 

What specific school-level progress monitoring data is collected and how often?

Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) data is being used to monitor the students readability and fluency level.  BAS is administered 3 times a year and once a week depending on the studnets needs.  Once the students has been identified as reading below grade level, that studnt is entered into the MTSS. Teachers a required to differeiante the instructions in the classroom to meet the student needs.  If there's no progres being made students move through the systems on a more intense bases.

How does the school ensure the fidelity of students not progressing towards school and district goals?

All students at Pine Ridge are entered into RTI process. Due to the low scores on the FSA ELA, Mathematics, Diagnostic and LEAPs assessments. The interventions for each student is implemented within the classroom.  If the student shows progress then the teacher/support staff continues working with that student.  If there's is no progress being made that student will eventually move to TIER 3 and possibly receive an evaluation.  There are weekly meeting with data collection to determine if the students are successful or need additional counseling or interventions.

How does the school ensure that all classroom instruction is accessible to the full range of learners using Universal Designs for Learning (UDL) for effective instructional design (planning) and delivery (teaching)?

Pine Ridge Education Center uses Personal Learning Communities (PLC) and professional development activities to provide teachers with the support, guidance and tools to utilize best instructional practices to deliver effective instruction and lessons. Pine Ridge Education Center utilizes research-based strategies to provide professional development activities for teachers and use student data for improvement. Pine Ridge Education  gathers baseline student data and use PLCs and professional development activities to improve practice based on data. Teachers implements instructional enhancements gained from professional development activities, continuous assess students using a variety of assessments, and analyze the data to improve practice. This process is repeated in order increase student achievement.
 

How does the school ensure Tier 1 Standards-Based classroom instruction is being implemented properly and effectively?

Faculty & Staff at Pine Ridge uses Read A Louds, Shared Reading opportunities and Word studies to engage students within the classroom. Pine  The Literacy Coach and Math Coach support teachers and students to ensure that all teachers and support staff hav e access to the necessary materials needes for students to be successfull.

Describe texts used for core, supplemental, and intervention programs at each grade level. How does the school ensure students have access to a balance of literary and informational text in a variety of mediums?

Pine Ridge Education Center uses technology, newspapers, and magazines to ensure students have have access to information text in a variety of mediums. Students also participate in project-based learning activities and teachers make real world connections when presenting information. The teachers are supported by the Academic Coaches who ensures access to informational text in various of mediums.

How does your school implement the Broward County Public Schools Social and Emotional Learning Standards to ensure students are developing social and emotional skills?

Pine Ridge implements SEL standards using LEAPs. LEAPs is taught evvery day for 30 minutes during the Life Skills class.  Each teacher is given a support staff to assist will monitoring students progess, checking journal entries and one-to-one assessments throughout the school year.  Data is collected on each student once a month to ensure the student has mastered and practiced the standards.  If the student is unsuccessful with the standard then the student is pulled out or supported by the additional staff memeber in the class during that time.

In which ways are the five competencies of the Social Emotional Learning explicitly taught and/or integrated school-wide and in the classroom?

Pine Ridge Edcuation Centers support the social emotional learning through everyday lessons and conversation which features how to manage behaviors in a school or commuinty setting. The social and emotional classses is taugt daily for 30 minutes school-wide through our Engineering Positive Behavior Program.  The LEAPs lessons that are implemented daily and the Wednesday Talk time, permits student the chance to express their feelings and emotions at the start of the day.   All students participate in the school-wide theme "All the place we will go" Faculty & Staff along with students set goals and a plan of action for the meeting the goals.  Faculty & Staff uses every day reminders and visual clues, and positive reinforments to encourage students throughout the day.  There's a school-wide incentives for students that continue to show growth in social emotional skills. CHAMPS is also apart of our school-wide social emotional learning techniques.
