Unexcused Absences
The school will use a tiered series of notifications for students who are missing an increasing amount of days.
- After 5 days of absences or 30 hours a mandatory Parent Link call will be placed to the parent or guardian of the student. This may be followed by a phone call to the parent and/or a letter from the school.
- After Habitual Truancy is established (15 days absent in 90 calendar days) a mandatory Parent Link call will be placed to the guardian which may be followed by a phone call to the parent and/or a letter from the school and a parent conference with an administrator present. Additionally, a Child Study Team will meet to determine the reason for truancy and to develop intervention strategies. The student will attend a mandatory conference with administrator.
- The student will also be referred to to the school Social Worker.
- The school Social Worker will also provide restrictive intervention to those students who have medical absences or absences due to death in the family. The Social Worker will make resources available to these students and their families as needed.

Tardiness
- We implemented a Tardy Center to target the period that tardies are the most profuse, 1st period. This allows 1st period teachers to focus on instruction and not lose valuable class time to addressing tardiness. Based on the tardy data, 1st period is the most problematic compared to the other periods of the day.
- Teachers are responsible for monitoring student tardiness for the rest of the periods.
- The Tardy Flow Chart is the uniform school policy and procedures on excessive tardiness. After 1-2 tardies, the teacher issues a verbal warning to the student. After 3-4 tardies, the teacher contacts the parents and issues an after school detenttion to the student. After 5 or more tardies, the teacher will submit a discplinary referral to the respective administrator who will either issue a Saturday detention or alternate consequence.
- The Data Team also tracks tardiness throughout the rest of the periods of the school day in order to identify schoolwide and individual tardiness trends. The data is used to find solutions for decreasing tardiness across the board.
- The administrative and security teams conduct random (unexpected) tardy sweeps to increase students' sense of urgency to get to class in a timely manner.
