Summary
Domain One of the Florida Principal Leadership Standards focuses on the school leader’s role in student achievement. The effective school leader needs to know the Florida Standards and the specific learning goals associated with each benchmark. More importantly, they will need to know the required state assessments that students will be administered to determine whether they have met the learning goal or standard. Additionally, it is important that they know how to monitor students’ progress in meeting the state targets for proficiency in each standard. Above all, effective school leaders must communicate the vision for student achievement and ensure that students and teachers have high expectations for success, which simply means they believe that all students can achieve.
