Ongoing professional development is an integral part of moving Forest Hills toward the necessary achievement gains to become an "A" rated school by the State of Florida. Principal and Assistant Principal attend all PLCs, CLI Trainings, and are implementing a school-wide book study to embrace balanced literacy. Utilize data derived from RtI, teacher led data-chats, professional development, and PLCs to help all students gain a better understanding of balanced literacy, and how it can help all students to become more effective, confident readers. Administration and Instructional Coach 2019-05-03 2019-05-31 Student progress specific to academic or behavior goals are monitored Forest Hills has a high ESE population that is growing. We have a total of nine Pre-Kindergarten classes (7 ESE, and 2 VPK). Many of those students transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten here at Forest Hills Elementary. Forest Hills also has a high ELL population that requires language translations for four languages (Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Portuguese, and Mandarin). Some students entering Kindergarten have no prior schooling. This often causes the student to come in with limited vocab for Kindergarten. Administration and coaches will closely monitor through data chats. BASIS and Elevation will provide necessary data needed to progress monitor. Working with teachers collaboratively in think tanks (PLCs) will allow administration to yield suggestions on what is occurring in specified grade levels, and how to move forward. Monthly data chats and discussing each student's progress. Teacher's will monitor student goals, while coaches and administration will monitor teacher progression. Success will be monitored through walkthrough data, data chats, think tank conversations, and online tools that measure student success.
