What elements will be addressed?

Student progress specific to academic or behavior goals are monitored

Why is it occuring?

Students fall behind in credits for various reasons. This is found to be especially true for ninth graders as they transition into high school. They sometimes do not understand the difference between grades and credits. Some students fail to take advantage or are unaware of the resources that are provided to assist them academically, socially and for plans for career and post secondary options.

What are we going to do about it?

We are holding guidance classroom visitations and assemblies to review graduation requirements, provide information for dual enrollment with Atlantic Tech. and Broward College. We introduce students to online class options and credit recovery through night school as well.
At the end of each quarter for all grade levels, the D and F report will be generated. We will meet with all students individually or small group.

Action Plan

The  students who are below where they should be with credits earned for their grade level will be counseled on supports that are available to them. Examples of supports would be tutoring programs available on campus, BRACE advisor, counselor, social worker and school psychologist.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

The success will be monitored and measured by looking at the quaterly data and analyzing if the student has made improvement and is on track with grades and credits.

What elements will be addressed?

Tier 1 behavior practices identify school-wide expectations

Why is it occuring?

It is a part of adolescence that students will exhibit certain behaviors in class that require correction. Our school-wide expectations are the following:
Successful: Be successful in all academic areas
Trustworthy: Demonstrate trustworthy behavior
Ownership:be responsible and take pride in school
Respectful: be respectful of others and yourself
Maturity: Exhibit mature behavior and decision making at all times

What are we going to do about it?

Teachers should not only be addressing behaviors with TIER 1 interventions, additionally these interventions should be logged in Basis.

Action Plan

Teachers were trained during the pre-planning week on how to enter interventions in Basis. Additional training will be available for teachers if needed.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

Baseline data will be taken in October to see the number of teachers that are entering interventions in Basis. The number will be monitored quarterly. Additionally, training will be offered to teachers if needed. The goal will be to see an increase in the number of teachers utilizing Tier 1 strategies as evident by a decrease in teacher referrals.
