Introduction
The Florida Principal Leadership Standards were revised in 2011 to assist administrators on the tasks needed to be highly effective in their performance. The Standards are based on contemporary research on school leadership, and represent skill sets and knowledge needed in effective schools.
Florida, recently adopted a new set of standards, the Florida Standards. These standards will be used as a platform for instruction in the classroom. The standards are aligned to ensure that students are prepared to be successful in college and the workforce.
Domain One of Marzano’s Evaluation Model consists of the strategies and behaviors that must be employed in the classroom to assist students in meeting these standards. As instructional leaders of schools, you set the tone and standards for the school climate. You need to be familiar with both the Florida Standards and the Principal Leadership Standards to effectively prepare students for career and college.
This course will walk you through the ten standards. They are grouped into categories, which are considered domains of effective leadership.
