FASC STATE
PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR (Fl. Association of Student Councils)
Principal Traeger was honored with
an early senior gift.
Principal Daniel Traeger is known
for his aphorisms and motivational
messages. Traeger enthusiastically
reminds his students to treat each
other with dignity and respect and
to live each day to its fullest
potential. On Tuesday, April 5th the
senior class officers surprised
their beloved principal with a
message of their own. “Be kinder
and gentler because tomorrow is not
promised…” The message, heard
many times by anyone who has ever
met Principal Traeger was posted in
the courtyard in metal lettering.

GLAM DECA Fashion Show lights up the stage
West Broward High, Dec. 8
By Scarlette Lesma,
West Broward High School
The West Broward High School auditorium was
recently transformed into an illuminated
fashion runway as 38 models strutted their
stuff in support of Becca's Closet.
The GLAM Fashion Show was put together by
Tatiana Blanco, Megan Ferraiuolo, Jennifer
Harden and the rest of the school's DECA
club.
The three have been working since summer to
ensure a successful event and lined up
sponsors such as Chick-fil-A, Chipotle,
Harden Environmental Services, Miami Latin
Cafe, Passing Fancy and Publix to support
their show.
Before the event, the sponsors and school
clubs set up booths in front of the
auditorium. There also was a section to
collect money for Becca's Closet, a
nationwide charity that began at Nova High
School and collects dresses for girls who
might not otherwise be able to attend their
homecoming and prom.
DECA also had a drive at the school weeks
before to collect hangers for the charity
and advertise the event. The fashion show
boasted a greater turnout than the first
year, along with more models and brighter
decorations.
A runway created specifically for the show
extended from the stage, and the lights
blended perfectly with the electronic music
to give the feel of a New York-style show.
The hour-long event showcased clothes from
casual wear to prom wear. At the end, the
seniors in the show were honored with roses
and a second time down the catwalk.
The show was a delight and raised awareness
of a worthy cause. For more information on
Becca's Closet, visit
