To better meet the needs of the sixth largest school district in the country and deliver a high quality leadership program, Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Department of Educational Leadership (EDL) has developed an internship program in collaboration with Broward County Public School's Human Resource Development Department and the Teaching and Leadership Center (TLC) at FAU.
This internship initiative, developed jointly by FAU faculty and high-performing Broward school-based administrators, has been designed to meet both the needs of the Broward School District and the research-based requirements of a quality school leaders internship program.
This initiative serves to improve the quality of preparation for Broward leaders, and enhance the growing partnership between Broward County Public Schools and FAU. It provides aspiring Broward leaders with a 450-hour practical, hands-on internship at the school site with an experienced Principal or Assistant Principal mentor. The program streamlines Department of Educational Leadership coursework and the District’s leadership development program. This initiative serves to further strengthen ties with the Broward School District, and inspires other collaborative initiatives through the Teaching and Leadership Center.
