GLOSSARY
Definitions:
Drug: any substance taken by mouth, injected into
a muscle, the skin, a blood vessel, or applied topically to treat or prevent
a disease or condition
Prescription Medications: those medications whose
use in the treatment of a physical condition and/or illness is required to
be authorized in writing for a given period of time and in specific dosages
by a licensed healthcare provider
Non-prescription Medications/Over the Counter
Medications: those medications that may be purchased by the general
public for treatment of physical conditions and/or illnesses without the
authorization of a licensed healthcare provider. Over the counter
medications shall include, but are not limited to, all forms of pills,
tablets, capsules, lozenges, liquids, creams, etc., that may be taken
internally or applied to the body.
