MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION TRAINING

OUTLINE GUIDE

  OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the training session, the participants will be able to:

 

·        Identify School Board Policy 6305 and Florida Statute 1006.062

 

·        Demonstrate understanding of medication procedure

 

·        Review the required storage, labeling and disposal of medications

 

·        Recognize the “Five Rights of Medication Administration”

 

·        Identify various routes and techniques of medication administration

 

·        Identify procedures dealing with self-administered medications

 

·        Identify procedure for medication emergencies

 

·        Discuss ways to minimize medication errors

 

·        Discuss the procedure in medication documentation

 

·        Identify procedure for obtaining bio-hazardous waste/sharps containers

 

·        Demonstrate understanding of terminology: drug, prescription, over the counter medication
