Evergreen Solutions External Review

In an effort to improve ESE services and support to students, schools, families and community, the Exceptional Student Education and Support Services division with the support of Mr. Robert W. Runcie, Superintendent conducted an external review.  Evergreen Solutions was board approved and began their review in January 2014.  With the input from all stakeholders and a review of data, Evergreen Solutions has submitted their findings in an Executive Summary and a full Final Report.  You may access these documents at the following two links.

Just for Parents Online Community The Florida Department of Education knows how important it is to communicate directly with students, parents, teachers, and the community about important education issues.  The Department has launched the Just for Parents Online Community at http://www.fldoe.org/family and invites you to join parents from across the state to hear from us through a monthly newsletter, blogs, and weekly Common Core Blast Off Tips of the Week.  We are dedicated to keeping parents informed and we encourage you to sign up and share this with your friends and family.

Each year, the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) surveys parents of children with an individual educational plan (IEP) to determine how well your child’s school is partnering with you and promoting your involvement in your child’s education. All states must collect this data as part of their State Performance Plan, as required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).   The web-based survey will open February 1 to May 31, 2014. You can complete the survey online at http://www.esesurvey.com or request a paper survey from your child’s school. Your feedback is important in helping the state and local school systems continue improving educational programs for children with special needs. Thank you!

The Florida Department of Education recognizes November as Parental Involvement in Education Month, highlighting the many ways families can engage in their students’ academic success.  Submit your 2 minute video by uploading your video to Youtube and then tweeting the video link to @educationfl or posting the video on the department’s Facebook page by Sunday, November 23, 2014.  The winner will receive a family four-pack of tickets to LEGOLAND® Florida Resort or Wet ‘n Wild Orlando. Finalists will receive “family game night” baskets.  communicationsoffice@fldoe.org
