FLORIDA FIRST START (FFS) is an early learning program that provides home-based services and support to low income families with children birth to 4 years of age. Parent Educators provide lessons to improve educational outcomes and parenting skills.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS
Child Development/Parent Education & Parent-Child activities in the home
Developmental Screenings
Parent-Child Playgroup activities
Coordination with Health, Education and Social Services Resources
Field trips, parent meetings and special events
Community Resource and Referral
Toy and Book Library
Parent Resource Center
Home Visits-Discussions include:
    baby’s development and progress parenting activities that engage baby child safety health and nutrition dental care discipline strategies

Developmental Screening
Ages and Stages Screening is administered to every child and reviewed with parents for early detection of potential developmental conditions.  We provide assistance to children who need further evaluation or special services by working closely with other local agencies.

ELIGIBILITY
Low income families with:
Pregnant moms
Children birth to 4 years of age
Not participating in a state-funded child care program

210 economically disadvantaged families
Residing within the service boundaries
A1A to the east
136th Avenue to the west
McNab Road to the north
State Road 84 to the south
