PARENTLINK Enhanced Reporting

In an effort to more closely align the use of Broward ParentLink with the goal of reducing all absenteeism, schools are being offered an option to implement a new, enhanced attendance notification system.   The Enhanced Attendance Reporting Option is designed to extend the automated notification to the parents or guardians of absent students  - beyond the current one-day truancy calls.  This expanded service includes threshold notifications for both unexcused and total absences as they are accrued by students.  The Enhanced Attendance Reporting Option makes these additional notifications by telephone, (as has been the standard in the past) and by way of automated mailings to student's homes. The new option has been designed to complement - not replace - the Broward Truancy Intervention Program (BTIP) program in use for students in Elementary and Middle schools, and is aligned to established provisions of Broward Schools' attendance policies and procedures.

If schools choose to implement the Enhanced Attendance Reporting Option they need to notify Drew Demme via CAB of their interest in migrating to the enhanced option.  Schools opting for the enhanced solution will receive the following services that supplement the basic daily calls:

For the total accrual of unexcused absences:

1. Calls will be made on thresholds of total unexcused absences in addition to daily individual unexcused absences.   Additional phone messages are delivered to the parent each time a student reaches a total of 5 , 8, 10, 12, and 15 unexcused absences.
2. Letters will be sent to parents on "thresholds" of 5, 10, and 15 unexcused absences.

For the total accrual of all combined absence types:

1. Calls will be made on thresholds for the cumulative total (unexcused and excused) for all absences at 5, 10, and 15 day accruals.
2. Letters will be sent out on thresholds for the cumulative total (unexcused and excused) for all absences at of 5*, 10 and 15** day accruals.

For a complete listing of all the thresholds (telephone calls and letters) in the Enhanced Attendance Reporting Option, see the Attendance Reporting Options matrix.  This matrix allows you to view the letters that are generated, and the scripts of the calls made at each threshold.  Please review this document carefully before opting to implement the Enhanced Attendance Reporting Option.  Keep in mind that implementing the enhanced solution:

1. is likely to require additional "data cleansing" - updating the student contact information in TERMS (A05 Panel) to correct mistakes in address information.
2.  is likely to generate increased call volume to schools' attendance coordinators and administrators.

There are no charges for the services included in the enhanced solution for schools.

*   5 day letters for total accrued absences is sent only if the attempt to make a phone notification fails.
** 15 day letters are sent "Certified".
