    PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As this school year draws to a close, once again I must say goodbye to another wonderful class of fifth graders who will move on to middle school.
Our school motto at Palm Cove is “Teaming for Tomorrow.” Now more than ever it takes teamwork to develop successful children.
When parents, the community and the school work together our children benefit in so many ways. Academic achievement on all levels is possible.
Each year our schools are expected to provide the same level and quality of education with fewer resources. We’ve come to depend on involvement of our community members, business partners and most importantly parents to support us. When children see their parents participate in school related activities, they understand the commitment and perform better in school.
Good luck and best wishes for the future!
On behalf of the entire staff and faculty at Palm Cove, we wish all our Palm Cove families a safe, happy, healthy summer break! We look forward to seeing all of you for the 2012/2013 school year starting on Monday, August 20, 2012.

TAKE OUR DAUGHTERS AND SONS TO WORK DAY

Thursday, April 26, 2012 is "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" in Broward County. However, since April 26 conflicts with a District Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) make-up day, some students may not be able to participate on April 26. The School Board of Broward County, Florida encourages its employees to bring their daughters and/or sons to work to observe "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" on Thursday, May 3, 2012. This national campaign provides the opportunity for parents and other adults to showcase their places of employment, explain their job responsibilities, introduce their co-workers, and discuss the various career opportunities that are available in their workplace.

BROWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL CUSTOMER SURVEY
The Broward County Public School’s Eighteenth Annual Customer Survey of our District's students, instructional staff/teachers, and parents will be underway throughout all elementary, middle, and high schools. This year's surveys will be administered online to all students in grades 3 through 12, to all full-time instructional staff/teachers, and to all parents/guardians. Surveys will be administered online beginning February 6, 2012 through April 6, 2012. All surveys will be available online through Virtual Counselor (https://www.browardschools.com/virtualcounselor) for all students, instructional staff/teachers, and parents who wish to participate. It is important for students, instructional staff/teachers, and parents/guardians to participate to ensure that valid conclusions can be drawn from the results. We appreciate the advice students, instructional staff/teachers, and parents/guardians give us each year and encourage everyone to take a few minutes to participate. Following administration, student, teacher, and parent data will be analyzed and summarized in individual school reports. Results for individual school reports will be released by June 8, 2012. A customer survey brief highlighting areas of concern, providing results for the District and for elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and centers will be released July 6, 2012.

    Career Day Wednesday,
    May 23, 2012

Palm Cove Elementary is hosting its eighth annual Career Day and we are recruiting volunteers to share their professions and expertise with our students. We are looking for a vast array of professions. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore different career options as they begin to plan for their futures. Interactive/hands on presentations are encouraged. A souvenir for the children to take home is greatly appreciated (pens, pencils, key chains, bookmarks, stickers, toothbrushes, etc.). If you or anyone you know is interested in participating, please call the school no later than Friday, May 4, 2012. A committee member will contact you with further information.
