Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

School administration and instructional staff utilize the CARE process to analyze assessment data and "target" the differentiated needs of all students.  Professional Learning Communities are on-going and meet on a weekly basis.  The analysis and findings are used through our weekly RTI meetings and to further drive instructional practices in all classrooms.  Formative assessments  also provide on-going remediation and enrichment instruction as needed.  Learning gains and student growth on all standards is monitored and reported through comprehensive data binders and through data chats.  Results are reported and graphed at RTI and on BASIS.  
Data for 2017-2018 is as follows:

  • ELA Achievment - 63% (-4)
  • Math Achievement - 69% (-3)
  • Science Achievement - 57% (-5)

Tradewinds Elementary seeks to attract highly qualified teachers by offering new teachers additional support through providing a coach through the TIER (Teacher Induction for Effectiveness and Induction) support system.  Tradewinds Elementary also offers differentiated trainings and learning opportunities through the district as well as at the school.  Our school offers focused PLCs with BEST and CARE focus.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

Through Title One funding, selected students will participate in and ELO (January through March) to receive differentiated instruction in the Florida Standards and Science FCAT 2.0. Students will be indentified through the CARE process and both remediation and enrichment opportunities will offered.

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

At this time we do not have any identified any migrant students.  However, the process for serving these students is to contact the migrant department. Collaboration with community agencies will take place to ensure that needed services such as health and nutrition are provided. Remediation and tutoring services will be provided as needed.

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

Students identified as neglected and/or delinquent will be connected to community resources who will provide support.

Title II
(District professional development)

Teachers at Tradewinds Elementary are encouraged to attend professional development trainings provided by the district.

Title III
(ESOL)

Identified English Language Learners (ELLs) at Tradewinds receive reading and developmental language instruction by our certified ESOL endorsed teachers along with an ELL Title III coach.

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)

Teacher and staff members are responsible for helping to identify homeless students and referring them to the Homeless Education program offered by the district.  The purpose on the program is to identify homeless students, remove barriers to their education, including school enrollment, provide them with supplemental academic and counseling case management services as well as links to their school social worker while maintaining school as the students' stable environments.

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)

70.05% of a teacher's salary will be funded through SAI funds.

Violence Prevention Programs

Tradewinds Elementary implements the County Student Code of Conduct and follows the district's outlined Discipline Matrix.  Our school enforces Broward's Anti-Bullying Policy and has a zero tolerance for bullying and violence.  Bullying prevention programs are supported through Kid Safe, DARE, Awesome Buddies, and Safety Patrol.

Nutrition Programs

Free breakfast is provided to all students daily.  Free and reduced lunch is provided to those who qualify.  Cafeteria manager provides nutritional materials to teachers on a monthly basis and healthy foods to students.

Job Training

Fifth grade students participate in an annual trip to Junior Achievement (JA) BizTown to explore different career options and receive minor training in selected fields.

Student Listeners - Selected students participate in the Listener program as recommended through our RtI Process. These listeners are trained through the district to work with students

Kindergarten Round-Up is held in the spring and the community is invited to find out more about our school as well as participate in a school tour.

 

PARENT INVOLVEMENT Action Plan

Parent Involvement Goal:
Based on the analysis of the parent involvement data, identify and define an area in need of improvement.

By June 2019, 100% of parents will attend at least one of the following events: Ice Cream Social, Curriculum Day/ Night, School Advisory Council, School Advisory Forum, Parent Conferences, PTA Family Nights, Coffee and Comprehension, Science Nights.

ELO (Extended Learning Opportunity) camps for selected students, Teacher release time for planning and data analysis
