Title I Plan

School Name

Forest Glen MS (3051)

School Year

2018 - 2019

Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

Data from the prior year's Florida State Assessment, monthly assessments and school-based diagnostic assessments in reading, math and science are compiled and organized into categories shown in visual displays.  All teachers are given individual class, subject-area, grade level and overall school results to review to develop an instructional plan to increase student achievement.  In addition, teachers utilize iReady for mathematics and reading.  The students are provided a learning plan suited to their own needs, based on their diagnostic assessment.  Furthermore, teachers analyze the diagnostic data during their Professional Learning Communities to identify the instructional focus and practices needed to increase student achievement.

Forest Glen Middle School's goals and objectives are guided by the results from the annual parent survey given to families during the spring semester, as well as from input gathered at monthly SAC Meetings and grade level parent/informational sessions with staff.  These meetings are for the stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving student achievement at all levels.

Instruction by HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS in all core content area classes
List instructional staff and paraprofessionals that are NOT highly qualified (instructional staff only).

All paraprofessionals at Forest Glen Middle school are highly qualified.

ATTRACT HIGH-QUALITY, HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS to the school.
Describe strategies that will be used to attract high-quality, highly qualified teachers.

Forest Glen Middle School is an institution of diversity and takes pride in attracting teachers who are certified, effective, flexible, and 21st century learners and educators. The school has a positive relationship with the community.  In house, we have monthly faculty events to foster and nurture collegial and professional growth.  To maintain sustainability of our teachers, we utilize Professional Learning Communities, the T.I.E.R program for new educators, staff experts and district personnel to provide continuous support to teachers.  We encourage teachers to use other skills or talents in school-based clubs that establish and enhance relationships.  Furthermore, teachers are regularly recognized and given incentives by the administration, community and the Parent Teacher Organization.  In collaboration with the district, Forest Glen Middle participates in the Broward Teacher Recruitment Fair and connects with local colleges of education to fill vacancies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

Forest Glen Middle School uses Staff Development funds to improve the teachers' instructional practices and to implement intervention programs with fidelity. Funds are also used to purchase books and instructional materials for classrooms.

Forest Glen Middle School uses Parental Involvement funds to support Parent Success Nights, which help foster the school-to-home connection as parents learn how to navigate Pinnacle Gradebook, monitor progress of their child, use technology to support classroom instruction and how to assist with applying the Florida Standards in real world scenarios at home. Funds are also used for stipends for teacher presenters and to purchase refreshments for parent workshops.

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

When students enroll in Broward Schools, the registration form includes the question "Have you or know someone that travels for agriculture or fishing work?".  If Forest Glen Middle School identified a Migrant Student, we would begin by calling Migrant Identification at 754-321-1414.  Through the Migrant Education Program, we would coordinate resources for the student and the family.  In addition, the student(s) would be monitored for Reading and Math progress through iReady to implement appropriate strategies to meet their learning needs.

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

Title X- Homeless

At Forest Glen Middle School, the Homeless Education Program helps us identify any homeless students and assist in eliminating barriers to school enrollment, to continue to promote academic achievement, and to provide transportation for them.
