Title I Requirements
COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.
BSA scores,FSA scores, BAS levels and i-Ready scores were collected and disagregated to see areas of weakness and strengths for the upcoming school year. The first data chat of the year was used to discuss previous year's scores and plans for remediation and enrichment. Data was also used by teams to create and amend focus calendars for the various content areas. Data was looked at student-by-student, grade level, and school-wide.
Parents are encouraged to meet with teachers and instructional coaches to explain and interpret scores, as well as provide additional assistance with areas of concern.

The principal works with Talent Acquisition Department to seek out and attract highly qualified candidates new to education or from other schools to become part of the Tamarac Elementary School staff. The principal and leadership team participate in the Experience Broward Teacher Recruitment Fairs as well to attract candidates for Tamarac Elementary.
Retention of higly qualified teachers is a top priority at Tamarac Elementary School. Teachers grow professionally through PLC's, and professional development opportunities in-house and district-wide. New teachers have TIER coaches to assist with new teacher education and school board and school-wide policies and procedures. Assistance is also given by team leaders and support staff.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration
Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.
Staff Development funds are provided to teachers the ability to home their craft and attend training in an area of weakness or where improvemnt is needed. All professional development has increased student achievement/mastery as a basis for attendance.
Parent Involvement funds are used for bi-annual curriculum parent nights where parents are encouraged to come and become more familiar with the academic standards to better assist their children at home. Parents are taught the same strategies and concepts that their children are learning. Monies are used to purchase food, supplies/materials, and provide stipends for teacher presenters.

Tamarac collaborates with community agencies to ensure that the needs or our migrant students are taken care of, both nutritionally and academically.

The school social worker works closely with students for resources and other needs and well-being of the student.

Title II
(District professional development)
Teachers are encouraged to take district sponsored professional development in all areas. The focus a this year has been on balanced literacy, small group instruction in ELA and math, as well as centers in both areas. This district has also come to Tamarac to give professional development throughout the year.

Title III
(ESOL)
English Language Learners are provided accomodations that fit their individual needs. Tamarac has a paraprofessional who assists teachers and students of The ELL population. Both the ELL contact and paraprofessional work with students and parents to ensure all needs are being met. Tamarac alos houses one of the district Multicultural Parent Centers. At parent nights, district personnel provides educational sessions parents can attend as well as language translation if requested. All school information is provided in the home language.

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)
Staff identify homeless students and refer them to the guidance counselor who then refers them to the Homeless Education program of Broward County schools. Barriers need to be removed in order for these students to succeed and ensure their needs and well-being are met. The school social worker will work with these students and families. There is also a family counselor that works with Tamarac students.

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)
SAI funds will be provided to provide tutorial sessions for identified fragile students in grades 3-5. Tutoring will run approximately 8 weeks.

Violence Prevention Programs
Tamarac enforces and follows all district initiatives and programs such as the code of conduct, anti-bullying policy, and monthly character trait education.

Nutrition Programs
Through the PE department and the school cafeteria, students are educated about health and nutrition of the Broward County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Department.

Housing Programs
Referrals are made to the school counselor, social worker, and family counselor when parents and students are in need of food and housing.

Pre-School Transition
Pre-School Transition
Tamarac Elementary is home to two Specialized PreK ESE classes. Teachers work closely with the Kindergarten team to align their curriculum to prepare students for kindergarten. Teachers also take part in home visits. In addition, parents attend a kindergarten round-up orientation, which is held twice a year, so parents understand the expectations of kindergarten.

Parent Involvement Goal:
Based on the analysis of the parent involvement data, identify and define an area in need of improvement.
The goal of Tamarac Elementary is to build capacity and increase attendance at all parent and school events including curriculum night, PTA, and SAC, in addition parent-teacher conferences.
