Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

Every enrolled student who qualifies for a free or reduced price lunch, receives a Title 1 needs assessment survey. The completed surveys are collected, the information is complied, and the data is then shared eith SAC/SAF Committees and also submitted to the Title 1 Office.

Instruction by HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS in all core content area classes
List instructional staff and paraprofessionals that are NOT highly qualified (instructional staff only).

Instructional Staff for the 2018-2019 at Horizon Elementary are all Highly Qualified teachers.

ATTRACT HIGH-QUALITY, HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS to the school.
Describe strategies that will be used to attract high-quality, highly qualified teachers.

Administration will attend Job Fairs when there is a need for hiring. We will also obtaing high quality student teachers, assign them to a classroom teacher, and offer them a position when possible.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

Staff Development- Instructional Staff takes part in activities, including weekly PLC meetings, Best Practices, National Conferences (ELA and Math), County Trainings, Monthly Team Leader Meetings, Weekly Grade Level Meetings, and Online Trainings.
Parent Involvement- The school offers to parents which allows them to promote involvement that includes Open House, Honor Roll Assemblies, Kids of Character Night, Middle School Transition Night, Newsletters that provide information such as Anti-Bullying Strategies and Attendance Counts, Title 1 Informational meeting and Title 1 bus, school website, SAC and SAF meetings,and other general information helpful to parents.

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

Currently Horizon has no Migrant students for the 2018-2019 school year.

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

At this time Horizon Elementary has no neglected or delinquent students.

Title II
(District professional development)

Horizon has no Title II funds for professional development. 

Title III
(ESOL)

Horizon currently has four teachers on waviers and they are working on completing their courses. The rest of the Horizon staff are all ESOL endored teachers. The school also two paraprofessionals who work with our ELL population. Horizon uses  ELL strategies during all instruction from teachers and pararofessionals.

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)

Teachers and staff members are responsible for helping to identify homeless students and referring them to the Homeless Education program offered by the district. The purpose of the Homeless Education Program is to identify homeless students, remove barriers to their education, including school enrollment, provide them with supplemental academic and counseling case management services as well as linkages to their school social worker while maintaining school as the students stable environment.

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)

Horizon offers Enrichment and FSA camp to all students.

Violence Prevention Programs

Schoolwide Anti-Bullying Program, SEL Harmony Program which includes instruction lessons with teacher and Guidance Counselor, SRO G.R.A.D.E. Program, Threat Assessment Team, SBBC Anti-Bullying Policy, Character Education, and Mentoring Program.

Nutrition Programs

School Board's Nutrition Program which includes food-tasting and food activities throughout the school year.

Housing Programs

When housing is needed it is referred to our school social worker.

Head Start

Horizon does not offer a Head Start Program.

Adult Education

Horizon Elementary does not offer Adult Education programs.

Career and Technical Education

Horizon does not offer Career and Technical Education programs at this time for our elementary students. We do use stem in our math and science programs.

Job Training

Horizon Elementary does not offer Job Training.

Other

At this time we do not have a listening program at Horizon. 

 

Pre-School Transition

Pre-School Transition

Kindergarten Round-Up is held in May. The Round-Up allows Kindergarten students and their families to familiarize them with the school and the expectations for the coming school year. Pre-school visits are set up in April with the Kindergarten teachers. Our Pre-K classes also visit our Kindergarten classrooms in May. We also hold a Kindergarten Open House before school starts.  

 

PARENT INVOLVEMENT Action Plan

Parent Involvement Goal:
Based on the analysis of the parent involvement data, identify and define an area in need of improvement.

Again, last year our parent involvement has increased. We started to include our students performing at all SAC/SAF meetings throughout the school year. This was a great way to improve attendance at our SAC/SAF meetings. We will continue to increase attendance by our planned activities per out Title 1 budget, which include the following: Open House start of the school year, SAC/SAF meetings at different times and days, parent meetings on instruction and curriculum, Kindergarten round up, Overview of Go Math computer program, and PTA nights.

Planned activities per our Tilte 1 Parent Involvement Budget are: Parent meetings throughout the year on Go Math computer program, instructional and curriculum updates, Open house at the start of the school year, SAC/SAF monthly meetings, PTA nights, Kindergarten Round Up, and annual Title 1 meeting. Activities in the area of Professional Development are Stemscope Science K-5, Acaletics Math Grades 3-5, Florida Standards Camp/ELO grades 3-5, Jan Richardson grades K-5 ELA and writing.

Teachers again in grades 3-5 were refreshed and new teachers trained in Acaletics to gain new strategies to increase our low performing math students, Teachers in grades K-5 (ELA) will attend Jan Richardson workshops to improve skills for our lowest performing students. Teachers will also attend trainings on the new tools for i-ready reading program. Teachers will also attend trainings on the computer testing program Schoolcity, to collect data on students to track their weaknesses and strengths in ELA,Math, and Science. Also, teachers will be instructing below level students in the utilzation of academic strategies to increase performance, reading, math, and writing standards based on materials for FSA/ELO, and i-ready Camp.
