Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

We use team meetings to gather scores from prior year assessments like FSA, BSA, and classroom assessments.  We calculate in charts and graphs, the amount of proficiency, learing goals, learning gains, and other information for each grade.  We review each grade seperatly and as a who school to notice where our path to grow is.

the adminsirtraion, along with seasoned teachers, are a part of the Recruitnement Fair eevery year to try and promote our shcool and get higly qualified teachers and para professionals. 

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

We use title 1 funds for staff developemnt and parental involvement activities.

For staff development title 1 funds are used to send teachers to trainings, PD, or workships hwere they can enance tehir teaching abilities and their curriculum. Funds are used to cover subs and give supplemental pay to teachers in attendance. 

For parental involvement, our shcool put on many activities at many different times of teh day and year so all parents have a chnace to attend.  Title 1 funds all beverages and food that is provided as well as any material needed for the events.

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

No migrant students have been identified. Collaboration with community agencies will take place to ensure that needed services such as health and nutrition are provided. Remediation and tutoring services will be provided as needed.

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

Students identified as neglected and/or delinquent will be connected to a school social worker through the Student Services Department who will provide support and community resources.

Title II
(District professional development)

We provide teacher with many PD opportunities throughout the year that will enhace studnet achievement. 

Title III
(ESOL)

We have an ESOl coordiantor who works with studnets struggling or just learning how to speak English.  The ELL staff member serves as the liasion between our shcool and the ELL community

 

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)

Our teachers create a close bond with each student and are responsible for noticing any neglect or homelessness. They must be referred to the homeless Education program offered by the district. Pur guidance counselor will be notified and will have direct communication with these students so that they feel included and their attendance does not drop in school.  

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)

SAI funds will be utilized to fund an eighteen-week Saturday Academy to assist struggling students. Funds will also be used to provide additional before and after school tutoring for fragile students.

Violence Prevention Programs

Park Ridge Elementary School builds a violence prevention culture through classroom instruction in anger manegement, conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and the Broward County adopted character traits.  All teachers and staff members go through the anti bullying training.  Our guidance counselor does many assemblies and activity promoting anti bullying. 

Nutrition Programs

Nutritional programs and health education are an integral part of our school, specifically through the Physical Educational curriculum and federal initiatives of the Broward County Public Schools Food & Nutrition Department.

Housing Programs

Referrals are made to the school social worker, when parents are in need of housing or food.  Additionally, the front office staff takes note of families expressing a need and passes this information on to administration and/or the guidance counselor.  We provide meals for some families during holidays.

Head Start

Adult Education

Parents and other adults of the community requesting ESOL, GED, or other continuing education programs are referred to the district's community school for services through our school social worker.

Career and Technical Education

Park Ridge is a StEM school that provide opportunities for students to engage in lessons related to engineering, science, technology, and math.  through our partnership with discovery education, students are engaged in using a variety of discovery sources. 

Job Training

Through STEM, studnets engage in curriculum that uses technology to build skillas and research/ experience to understand different career field and know more about colleges and universities. 5th grade studnets go on multiple filed trips every year to explore different career options.  We also hold a career day at our shcool with our guidance counselor. 

Other

Some studnets participate in mentore programs like Big Brother Big sister, reading pal and after Shcool program.  

 

Pre-School Transition

Pre-School Transition

Park Ridge Services two classes of Pre K ESE and 2 head Start classes.  The teachers conduct a vertical articulation meeting during the year to ensure that the transition form the early childhood education system to kindergarten program is smooth.  A kindergarten orientation is held prior to the beginning of the shcool year that give the invoming students an opportunity to meet their new teacher and classroom. Parents are given an overview of the kindergarten curriculum and expectations.

Parent Involvement Goal:
Based on the analysis of the parent involvement data, identify and define an area in need of improvement.

Thegoal of Park Ridge Elementary is to increase parental involvement n shcool events by 50% for the 2018-19 school year.  All parental involvement activities will include engaging activities, refreshements and/or food, and provide opportuities to learn about studnet achievement and available resources.

First SAC meeting of the year.  Officer Elections will take place.  Security and othe information will be discussed.

We will goover our school goals and our FSA scores fromlast shcool year.  We will notify all members and parents of any new intervnetions or support that is taking place.  All new staff members will be outlined and introduced to parents.

Parents and students are invoted to attend our first math night.  After a full presentation for all, groups will be formed and everyone will rotate to three different stations to show how math can be used in all aspects of the shcool day.

Parents are engaged in meetings and activities with their studnets related to Literacy and guiding toward sthe FSA tests.  Parents are given things to do at home with thier children.
