Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

The 17-18 data from the FSA scores were organized with a table and reviewed with teachers. Collaborative planning was employed to identify and address next steps for addressing individual sub-groups and schoolwide needs.

In order to attract high-quality, highly qualified teachers we attend 'Experience Broward' Teacher Recruitment Fairs, frequently search applitrack, collaborate with the district, and collaborate with teachers through the instructional growth cycle (building relationships).

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

Title 1 funds are used for staff development, extended learning opportunites (ELO), and to increase parental involvment.

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

Collaboration with community agencies will take place to ensure that needed services such as health and nutrition are provided. Remediation and tutoring services will be provided as needed.

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

Students identified as neglected and/or delinquent will be connected to a school social worker through the Student Services Department who will provide support and community resources.

Title II
(District professional development)

Teachers participate in professional development linked to improved student achievement on the Florida State Standards.

Title III
(ESOL)

We have paraprofessional work closely with ELL classes.  ELL students are enrolled in the developmental language classes.  Teachers are ESOL endorsed.

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)

Teachers assist the counselors and social workers with identifying homeles students.  Once identified, homeless students and familes are provided resources and support by the school-based social workers and district resources.

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)

SAI funds will be utilzed to fund a Saturday camp and after-school programs for lowest 25% and level 2 students.  

Violence Prevention Programs

LLMS implements the County Student Code of Conduct and follow the Discipline Matrix.   Our school trains staff and students on anti-bullying  and bullying prevention programs.  

Nutrition Programs

Health education is a part of our leadership and physical education classes. We adhere to the federal initiatives of the Broward County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Department.

Housing Programs

School social worker referrals are made when families are in need of housing or food.  Counselors and social workers provide much of the needed support and resources to the families.

Adult Education

Parents and other adults of the community requesting ESOL, GED, or other continuing education programs are referred to the district's community school for services through our school social worker.

Career and Technical Education

We offer computer science and STEM programs through our Innovative programs.

Job Training

Eighth grade students participate in an annual trip to Junior Achievement (JA) Finance Park to explore different career options and receive minor training in selected fields.  Additionally, 8th graders visit Boyd Anderson and other magnet high schools to explore career opportunities.  All students participate in Naviance.

Parent Involvement Goal:
Based on the analysis of the parent involvement data, identify and define an area in need of improvement.

The goal of Lauderdale Lakes Middle School is to increase parental involvement by 25% for the 2018-2019 school year. The school's lowest quartile and non-proficient population could highly benefit from increased parental involvement. As a result, parent breakfasta and other literacy trainings will be hosted to inform parents of ways they can assist with education at home. Throughout the school year, $2724 will be used to  purchase materials and refreshments for parent to participate in these workshops, which will positively impact student achievement.
