Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.

To promote and foster parental involvement in our school improvement process, parents are consistently and continually invited to our monthly School Advisory Council to discuss student achievement,school wide goals and incintives. Parents are allowed input into the curriculum, and school environment.

The online resource Broward County Applic track is used to locate highly qualified propective educational candidates, as well as participation in Recruitment Fairs. . Deerfield Beach Middle pairs new teachers in the same content area with veteran teachers to help them acclimate to our schools vision, mission, and school procedures. New teachers also meet with thier TIER coaches on a routine basis. Deerfield Beach Middle wants to cultivate and nurtue teachers to grow professionally. At Deerfield Beach Middle we retain highly qualified, certified-in-field, effective teachers in our school. New teachers also meet with thier TIER coaches on a routine basis, all teachers also attend Professional Learning Communities, and District trainings. 

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

Title 1 funds provide staff development to help continue educational best practices. this allows for increased student achievement. Funds are also used to increase parental involvement through trainings which provides parents with strategies to assist their children at home. 

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

At this time 1 migrant student has been identified. Deerfield Beach Middle will collaborate with community agencies to ensure that needed services such as health and nutrition are provided. Migrant students will also receive remediation and tutoring services as needed.

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

Deerfield Beach Middle School students who are identified as neglected or delinquent will be connected to community resources and the school social worker.

Title II
(District professional development)

Teachers at Deerfield Beach Middle participate in district developed workshops in a variety of areas in order to meet the needs of all students. 

Title III
(ESOL)

Deerfield Beach Middle employs teachers and staff who are bilingual. This helps to meet the needs of English Language Learners (ESOL) parents and students as needed. 

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)

Teachers and staff memebers at Deerfield Beach Middle are responsible for helping to identify homeless students and referring them to the Homeless Education program offered by the district. The purpose of the Homeless education program is to identify homeless students, remove barriers to education, including school enrollment, provide them with supplemental academic and counseling case management services as well as linkages to their school social worker while maintaining school as the students stable environment.

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)

Supplemental Academic funds will be used to fund reteach and enrichment programs such as iReady, Gizmos, Legends of Learning.

Violence Prevention Programs

Deerfield Beach Middle school implements the County Student Code of Conduct and follows the District Discipline Matrix. Our school enforces the District’s Anti-Bullying Policy and has a zero tolerance for bullying and violence. Deerfield Beach Middle school builds a violence prevention culture through SEL programs.

Nutrition Programs

Deerfield Beach Middle school students participate in Physical education programs which include fitness, health, and nutrition.  Deerfield Beach Middle School partners with the F.L.I.P.A.N.Y  ( Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition Program to Youth) in order to improve the health and wellness of our students.Deerfield Middle aslo offers an afertschool program to students which provides nutrion, and fitness programs.

Career and Technical Education

The International Baccalaureate Magnet Program provides students with opportunities to be well rounded students, and challenges them to excel in academics as well as personal growth. Deerfield Beach Middle offers a Coding In academics program (CIA) which provides 21 students the opportunity to attend Broward College once a week for coding classes at Broward College. 

Job Training

The JM Lexus Family offers a school to work program for 16 students. These students particiapate the second Wednesday of each month as a partnership with The Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program.

Other

Deerfield Beach Middle School participates in the districts Mentoring Tomorrow's Learning Program. This program is designed to help improve academic achievement, leadership development, and peer-to peer mentoring programs.  Deerfield Middle currently has 50 participants, girls and boy sin all grade levels.
