Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

2017-2018 assessment data from the FSA scores, BAFS scores and internal reading assessments and iReady diagnostics were used to assess student performance and show teacher, grade level and school wide results. 

Based on all student tested on the BAS in grades K, 1, 2 and 3, as well as in grades 4th and 5th that were levels 1s and 2s, Floranada Elementary is 61.7% on target, 10.2% on watch and 28.1% on watch. 

Based on the iReady Reading Fall diagnostic, out of 713 students tested, 38% of students are on or above level, 48% are 1 level below and 13% of students are 2 or more level belows. 
Based on the iReady Math Fall diagnostic, out of 713 students tested, 29% of students are on or above level, 56% are 1 level below and 15% of students are 2 or more level belows. 

Based on the 2017-2018 FSA Scores for English Language Arts: Third grade 75% profiecent, fourth grade 67% proficent, and in fith grade 79% proficent. 
Based on the 2017-2018 FSA Scores for Math: Third grade 79% profiecent, fourth grade 80% proficent, and in fith grade 64% proficent. 
Based on the 2017-2018 FCAT Scores for Science: Fifth grade 56% proficient. 

Instruction by HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS in all core content area classes

Mrs. Stephany Walden, who is currently the interim subsitute for Mr. Dale Stienmetz, is not high qualified. She is working on her elementary education certification. 

ATTRACT HIGH-QUALITY, HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS to the school.
Describe strategies that will be used to attract high-quality, highly qualified teachers.

We recurit teachers at the job fairs, professional development activities throughout the state, the local collegues and from our own in house student teachers. These factors, along with the reputation of the school, allow for a large applicant base. Vacancies are filled with candiates interviewied at the recruitment fair and referred by the district's instructional staffing deparment. Retnetion of teachers is a top priority of our school. We retain highly qualified, certified in field, effective teachers in our school by ultilzing the New Educator Support System (NESS Liaison), Professional Learning Communities, District trainings, school based professional development. 

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Coordination and Integration

Title I, Part A
Title I funds provide additional teachers to assist students, particularly low performing students.

We fund two full teacher salaries with Title 1 Part A funds. We also pay 9.87% of another teacher's salary with Title 1 Part A funds. 

Staff development funds are used to develop a comprehensive professional training program to imporve delivery of instruction through a variety of workshops designed to move teachers to mastery and improve student achievement. 
Parental Involvement funds are utilized to fund monthly academic parent nights that provide parents with new skills to support student learning at home. Money is used to purchase food, supplies/materials, and provide a stipend for teacher presenters. 

Title I, Part C- Migrant
(Migrant-Title I schools have been advised if Migrant students attend their school)

Floranada Elementary School does not have any migrant students at this time. If we ever have to meet the needs of these students, we will collaborate with community agencies, and the Distrcti, to ensure that needed services such as health, nutrition and remediation services will be provided as needed. 

Title I, Part D
Neglected and Delinquent

Student identifyed as neglected and/or delinquent qill be connected to a school social worker through Student Services, who will provide support and community resources. 

Title II
(District professional development)

We use district training for various needs. Teachers are indentifyed for training and sent on a as-needed basis. The training usually comes at no cost with the exception of a susbtiitue. This is part of our professional development plan. 

Title III
(ESOL)

We plan on holding an ESOL Saturday or after school camp at no charge to parents. ESOL funds may help fund the teacher salaries and materials. In addition, all ESOL students are being taught by an ESOL endorsed teacher. 

Title X- Homeless
(Homeless- All Title I schools may complete with this statement)

Homeless studens are identified by our Guidance Counselor. We offer backpacks of weekly food and supplies as needed.

The purpose of the Homeless Education Program is to identify homeless students, remove barriers to their education, including school enrollment, provide them with supplemental academic and counseling case management services. 

Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)

SAI funds will be utilized to fund our Saturday or Afterschool camp and push in teachers to help throughout the year. 

Violence Prevention Programs

Our guidance counselor runs in-class lesson with children all school year. Teachers determine the needs for the students and our counselor designs the lessons to fit the needs of the students. 

Nutrition Programs

Nutritional promgrams and health education are an integral part of our school, especailly through the Physical Education curriculum and federal initiaves of the BCPS Food and Nutrition Department. 

Housing Programs

Weekly backpacks are sent home with food to students who are in need. 

Head Start

We do not have a Head Start Program. 

Adult Education

Floranada does not have Adult Education. 

However, if parents request resources, our Guidance Counselor linkes them to community programs.

Career and Technical Education

We host a career day once per year. Students are constantly encouraged to see the connection to college and career by the daily teaching of lessons. 

Job Training

Kids and the Power of Work (KAPOW) serves several classrooms in the building. The lessons help children connect what they are learning in the classroom to skills needed for work. 

Other

Selected students participate in the Listener program as reccomended through the RTI process. These listeners are trained through the district to work with children. 

 

Pre-School Transition

Pre-School Transition

Our own Pre-K will have learned all the kindergarten processes by the time they move to Kindergarten. Community Pre-Schools are invited to our school to review our requirements that align to the curriculum. Orientation is held prior to school starting to help incoming kindergartners become acclimated to our school.
