School Year

2018 - 2019

Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

Prior year assessment data from the FSA sores, BSA reading scores,  internal assessments and diagnostics test were organized with graphs, tables, and charts. Information was organized to show individual teacher, grade level, and school wide results. Individual student results were given to classroom teachers for their review.

Parents are also a vital part of the process. A parent survey is sent home each spring to gather input concerning curriculum, environment, and communication. Results from this survey are used to help write goals and objectives for the school.

Parents are invited to meet with administration to discuss student achievement results and strategies for improving scores. Suggestions are discussed with staff and considered for inclusion in school wide plans.

Instruction by HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS in all core content area classes
List instructional staff and paraprofessionals that are NOT highly qualified (instructional staff only).

All teachers are highly qualified.

ATTRACT HIGH-QUALITY, HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS to the school.
Describe strategies that will be used to attract high-quality, highly qualified teachers.

The district's Human Resources and Staff Development departments, as well as a district level Teacher Recruitment Committee work collaboratively to retain and recruit highly qualified , certified-in-field, effective teachers. The district also has a website used to attract teachers to Broward County based upon regional perks, "Teach Near the Beach" and opportunities to receive benefits beyond a paycheck. McNab Elementary School's collaboration with the district is evidenced by participation in Broward Teacher Recruitment Fairs. Vacancies are filled with candidates interviewed at the recruitment fair and referred by the district's instructional staffing department. Retention of teachers is a top priority of our school. Teachers are cultivated and nurtured at McNab Elementary to grow professionally. We retain highly qualified, certified-in-field, effective teachers in our school by utilizing the New Educator Support System (NESS Liaison), Professional Learning Communities (Reading and Math Coach), District Trainings (District Personnel), School-Based Professional Development (Leadership Team / Team Leaders), Teacher Recognition and Incentives (Administration).

Pre-School Transition

This school year McNab Elementary has 3 Pre-K classes.  The teachers will conduct  vertical articulation meetings throughout the year.  They will also ensure the transition from early childhood programs to Kindergarten is a smooth process.  Open house is held prior to the beginning of the school year, which gives the incoming students an opportunity to meet their teacher and see their classroom.  Additionally, parents are given an overview of the Kindergarten curriculum expectations.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT Action Plan

Parent Involvement Goal:
Based on the analysis of the parent involvement data, identify and define an area in need of improvement.

Parents are invited and encouraged to become active members of the School Advisory Council (SAC), Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and the School Advisory Forum (SAF).

Parents are involved in the Title I program through monthly parent activities that begins with our Annual Title I Public Meeting. This meeting informs parents of the many components of the Title I program, introduces them to the school’s curriculum and various assessments in each subject area, and recruits parents to become part of the school’s decision-making process. Our procedure of combining PTA, SAC and TITLE I Family Nights into one evening continues to be successful in providing parents a forum for participation in an organized, ongoing and timely manner.  SAC meetings throughout the year offer parents a vehicle for input into how parental involvement funds are used, what items should be included in the Title I Home-School Compact and Annual Title I Parent Survey, and keeps parents informed as to the implementation of the School Improvement Plan.  McNab Elementary School’s Monthly Parent Newsletter contains “McNab Matters” to keep parents up-to-date on Title I issues and various ways to communicate with the school. A special “Title I Bulletin” is sent home via backpack with all students in early September to inform parents as to the location of the school and district Parent Involvement Policies, ways to access the School Improvement Plan. The Bulletin contains copies, in three languages, of the “Parent Right to Know Letter.” Information is provided on Parental Involvement Resource
