Title I Plan

School Year

2018 - 2019

Title I Requirements

COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT of the entire school (including the needs of migrant children) with information about the academic achievement of children in relation to the state academic content standards.
Describe the process utilized to conduct the comprehensive needs assessment for this school.

Last years FSA scores were compiled into a table by grade level and school-wide.  Classroom teachers were given copies of their classroom scores to review. School-wide plans are developed based on parent input through surveys and School Advisory Council meetings.  Parent input is summarized during Grade Chair meetings to discuss with grade level teachers.  Staff suggestions are communicated to the leadership team during Grade Chair meetings.

Instruction by HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS in all core content area classes
List instructional staff and paraprofessionals that are NOT highly qualified (instructional staff only).

All paraprofessionals are highly qualified.

ATTRACT HIGH-QUALITY, HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS to the school.
Describe strategies that will be used to attract high-quality, highly qualified teachers.

Hollywood Hills Elementary utilizes the NESS program for new teachers, providing them with a mentor for support.  The Literacy Coach also provides modeled lessons and academic support for new teachers.  Teachers are encouraged to participate in District trainings to increase knowledge about best practices.  Resources are routinely shared school-wide.

Bullying prevention programs are supported through Youth Crime Watch, Peer Counseling/Conflict Mediation programs, guest speakers and student assemblies.

Nutrition Programs

Nutritional programs and health education are an integral part of our school, specifically through the Physical Educational curriculum and federal initiatives of the Broward County Public Schools Food & Nutrition Department.

Housing Programs

Referrals are made to the school social worker, when parents are in need of housing or food.  Additionally, the front office staff takes note of families expressing a need and passes this information on to administration and/or the guidance counselor.

Head Start

To ensure school readiness, the Head Start Program provides literacy, math, and science curricula that align with the K-3 national standards to improve educational outcomes. This connection between curricula and child expectations has contributed to better prepare students to succeed in Kindergarten. An end-of-the year Creative Curriculum Continuum report, detailing students’ ongoing assessment, is placed in the students’ cumulative folder to familiarize kindergarten teachers with the Head Start students’ progress in the program.  Hollywood Hills Elementary school does not have a Head Start program on site.

Adult Education

Parents and other adults of the community requesting ESOL, GED, or other continuing education programs are referred to the district's community school for services through our school social worker.

Career and Technical Education

Technical education is embedded throughout the curriculum across all disciplines.  Hollywood Hills Elementary conducts an annual career day where parents and community members share information about their careers.
