What elements will be addressed?

The leadership team actively engages in ongoing professional development

Why is it occuring?

Based on past practice, the leadership team focused more on classroom-based professional development, including but not limited to Balanced Literacy, Standards-Based teaching, Differentiaton of Instruction, and student-centered learning. Silver Shores' has a Tier 1 level of instuctiuon that needs improvement across the grade levels. This has resulted in higher numbers of Tier 2 and Tier 3 students in the RtI process.

What are we going to do about it?

As a leadership team, we must now focus on ensuring quality, researched-basd interventions are being implemented with fidelity for Tier 2 and 3 students as well as continuing to fine tune our Tier 1 instruction across the grade levels. We will immediately implement PLC's built around administration's schedule so they can be an active part of the conversations about students and data. Also, we will invite our District MTSS Coordinator to evaluate our MTSS / RtI process and provide critical feedback to ensure we are successfully guiding teachers through Tier 1.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

Through walk-throughs, we will ensure a strong Tier 1, Standards-Based instruction is happening in all classes. In addition, we will closely monitor the interventions in place for our TIer 2 and 3 students through regularly scheduled RtI meetings and data chats. We will look for a decrease in the number of students requiring Tier 2 and 3 referrals. We will regularly monitor iReady data, classroom assessment data, and BAS as progress monitoring tools to ensure students are making progress.

What elements will be addressed?

The leadership team facilitates PD on data-based problem-solving

Why is it occuring?

For the 2017-2018 school year, not enough emphasis was placed on the importance of data driven problem solving. Data chats, PLC's, grade level meetings, and faculty PD did not focus enough on using data to support and improve instruction.

What are we going to do about it?

For the 2018-2019 school year, our literacy coach is going into classrooms and assisting teachers in providing a strong Tier 1 instruction, which will yield pertinent data to assist in understanding the student's instructional levels and areas of improvement. The Principal, Assistant Principal, and Literacy Coach are participating in a book study, Driven By Data, which focuses on schools using Data-driven instruction in the following areas: assessment, analysis, action, culture, overcoming obstacles, and leading professional learning. The learning will assist the administration in effectively using data with teachers to drive instruction. The Leadership Team will also play a primary role in PLC's this year to assist teachers in using thier data to improve their instructional cycles and create meaningful small group instruction to hone in on the student deficiencies that need strengthening / remediating.

Action Plan

Administration and the Literacy Coach will participate in monthly book study conversations with other administrators and litreracy coaches in the Cadre about Driven By Data, and what effective practices are being implemented in each school. The Leadership Team will participate in one primary and one intermediate PLC weekly to assist teachers with analyzing data to drive instruction, create small-group learning opportunites, and ensure a strong Tier 1 instructional program is being impelemented across the grade levels.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

Weekly Conversations during PLC's that focus specifically on authentic student work; determining which students achieved success on the learning goal(s) and which students need inteventions / remediaton; Quarterly Data chats that focus specifically on student progess in BAS, iReady Standards Mastery and Diagnostic screenings, and classroom assessments; Classroom observations based on the iObservation Framework; the amount of students in RtI that are responding to interventions and closing the achievement gap as well as decreasing the overall amount of students in the RtI process.
