What elements will be addressed?

The leadership team is actively facilitating implementation

Why is it occuring?

The leadership team has had to reschedule meetings in order to complete the process for some cases.  This has occurred due to schedule conflicts throughout the year.  For example, our School Psychologist was only on campus on Wednesdays and some Fridays. She is an important part of the team and we include her regularly.  Therefore, if someone else's schedule did not allow for RTI participation on a Wednesday, we would reschedule some meetings for the following week.

What are we going to do about it?

Our new school psychologist has a more flexible schedule this year.  She will be on campus two additional days.  This wll allow us to follow up and reschedule for the same week -- OR schedule RTI Meetings on a day other than Wednesday.  In the past, we had to reschedule for the following week.

Action Plan

We will continue to meet weekly.  If there is a schedule conflict, we will be able to reschedule for the same week.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

We will monitor and measure our success by staying on schedule with follow up meetings without delay.

What elements will be addressed?

The infrastructure exists to support family and community engagement

Why is it occuring?

We need to improve our infrastructure to support family and community engagement in the RTI process. Educators have been following through to share RTI information with parents, and securing a parent signature on the parent teacher conference form that notifies the family that their child is receiving RTI/intervention.  The RTI Team (which includes the teacher) has included several families in RTI meetings each year.  However, we have not taken additional steps to have more parents join us in our RTI meetings.

What are we going to do about it?

In order to increase the number of parents we include in our RTI meetings, we will have them participate on the phone if they are unable to attend a scheduled meeting.  We will also re-send the invitation letter asking parents to join us.  If they cannot make it to the first meeting, perhaps they can join us and share input at a follow up meeting.

Action Plan

At our weekly RTI meetings, for every child, the team will discuss and confirm action needed to include the parent at the next scheduled meeting.  Action needed may be a conversation with a parent at dismissal, printing of another invitation letter, or a phone call.  In some cases, if we are unable to reach a parent, we will need to create a School Social Worker Referral.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

We will monitor our success by including "parent participation" in our Hunt RTI Database.  This will allow us to keep track of the parents who have participated in an RTI meeting either by phone or in person.
