What elements will be addressed?

Coaching is used to support MTSS implementation

Why is it occuring?

Documentation in the BASIS system for students in need of the RTI Process is not being consistently entered because the system keeps updating and staff is not yet trained in the most recent version. Additionally, students appear to be struggling in more ways due to difficulty with the curriculum, personal issues with anxiety, chronic absenteeism, etc. As a result of the struggles, more students may need to be referred through BASIS to the RTI Coordinator. The need to use the BASIS system plus the increase in student concerns have created the need to address the effective use of this district tool designed to create consistency in the assistance of students.

What are we going to do about it?

Building the Capacity/Infrastructure for implementation will involve the use of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and training that will involve "hands on" demonstration. The grade level counselors will provide support and assit with documentating interventions within bases for all of our students that are struggling academically, socially or emotionally.

Action Plan

Meetings on some of the school wide PLC meeting dates will be utilized to discuss the RTI Process by providing a refresher training on actually accessing the system online.  Grade level counselor and RTI coordinator will work one on one with teachers to provide additional assistance and support.

Monthly RTI Meetings will provide provide the team with an opportunity to review Tier 1 through Tier 3 student interventions that are working to improve students achievement and/or behavior.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

Administration and the RTI committee(including the classroom teacher/s) will work together when students have situations in class that may be a result of the student's struggles with academics or behavior. End of the year surveys may be distributed to the teachers about the RTI process to assess success and determine room for growth in order to build a strengthening RTI process and effective use of the BASIS system. Evaluation of student data at the end of the school year.

What are we going to do about it?

BASIS trained staff and the high school guidance team will support the teachers with utilization of the system with regards to documentation and tracking of interventions in small group and one-on-one sessions. We begin by hosting a large group session to review the BASIS system and who should be referred to RTI. On PLC Dates and Planning Days, we will hold open and scheduled sessions to meet the needs of staff so that we can improve the process and increase staff comfort with the system.

Action Plan

Meetings on some PLC dates to discuss the RTI process again-Provide a refresher on training already given. Grade level counselor and RTI coordinator work one on one with teachers to provide assistance and support.

Monthly RtI Meeting will provide the team with an opportunity to review Tier 1 through Tier 3 student interventions that are working to improve students achievement and/or behavior.
