What elements will be addressed?

Tier 1 academic practices clearly identify learning standards

Why is it occuring?

Teachers struggle to reflect and use multiple data sources and assessment to evaluate the effectiveness of their Tier 1 (core) academic practices. When the majority of students are struggling in a particular area, teachers tend to focus on the student rather than reflect on their teaching.

What are we going to do about it?

Provide professional development for teachers to increase their knowledge on Tier I academic practices and provide additonal support for those teachers who are need of assistance in this area.
Create an assessment calendar and continue to progress monitor consistently throughout the year
Schedule data chats with teachers to analyze data and help make connections to gaps in student learning.

Action Plan

  • Professional development will be provided on Tier 1 teaching strategies in addition to various resources and how to best use them.
  • PLC's will allow teachers the opportunity to reflect on teaching practices, based on student data.
  • Coaches will assist teachers that need additional support when data indicates deficiencies in teaching practices
  • Teachers will be provided opportunities for peer observations of teachers to assists them with implementation of effective Tier I teaching pratices
  • Administration will provide feedback to provide teachers with a better understanding of effective Tier I teaching practices.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

  • Classroom walkthroughs to provide teachers with constructive feedback and next steps to improvement
  • Minutes from PLC's will be reviewed to ensure teachers are analyzing  current data and reflecting on teaching practices
  • Coaches will maintain of log of support given to teachers in need
  • Administration will set up times for peer observations and teacher will complete a reflection form on what they learned from the observation
  • Vertical team meetings will be scheduled to help create a continuous progression of learning through the grade levels.
