What elements will be addressed?

Staff are provided data on MTSS fidelity and student outcomes

Why is it occuring?

Staff is hesitant to use BASIS despite several training sessions.  As a result the access to student data is limited to the user's ability and level of proficiency.   Teachers often fail to communicate information to families or directly involve them in the process.

What are we going to do about it?

As a result of the above deficiency, MTSS team members / case managers will closely monitor and work alongside teachers ensuring that all of the necessary steps are taken.  This includes involving stakeholders in the planning, implementation process as well as delivering feedback to parent, community and district based partners.  The MTSS Lead will directly disseminate the letters and or contact parents informing them of the process.

Action Plan

1. Conduct a needs assessment to determine areas of need for improved proficiency in BASIS.
2. Schedule a Professional Development sesson to illustrate to teachers and staff the importance of the MTSS process.
3. Schedule fidelity checks during the year in order to determine fidelity of action plan and outcomes.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

The MTSS Team will monitor outcomes by the number of teachers who enter an initial referral into BASIS.

What elements will be addressed?

Across tiers, data used to identify "gap" between expected and current outcomes

Why is it occuring?

In the past staff was expected to collect data for students in the MTSS process.  Case Managers were required to complete mid-point checks for compliance.  However, teachers reported back that they were unsure of what to do, or did not receive materials on time.

What are we going to do about it?

In order to address the above situation, a summary sheet was created to document the required interventions, time frame and interval of interventions.  This form is completed during the meeting and a copy is provided to the team members.  The expectation is that teachers will have a quick go to "cheat sheet" that will facilitate the intervention process.

Action Plan

1. Complete Meeting Summary Form during MTSS Meeting.
2. Case Managers will continue to perform midpoint checks.
3. If compliance is not achieved, Administration will intervene with teachers and provide support as needed.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

The MTSS team will review student records, utilizing BASIS and check point reports from Case Managers.  Success will be measured by the number of required interventions completed within designated period.
