Staff were trained on how to speak to parents and the expectations for Open House.  During Open House administration and teachers provided great customer service.  Open House was an event in which the schools opened their doors, so parents can meet with teachers and get a glimpse into their child’s day of learning.  To increase the number of parents attending Open House it was mentioned in the daily announcement, school newsletter, and automated calls to parents.  Parents were informed about important test dates and graduation requirements by the guidance department during the event.

On Octobr 17, we will educate the community about Hispanic Heritage by conducting a Hispanic Heritage Program in which students, teacher, and parents will be invited.  In addition, everyone will enjoy Hispanic Cultural foods after the program.  Later on in the school year we will conduct a Program for Haitian Day and we will also have a program for Black History Month.

Dave Thomas Education Center/ Charles Drew Family Resource Center will maintain a positive school culture by celebrating employee of the month on a monthly basis, partner of the month via newsletter, student of the month for each content area at the awards program.  In addition, the assistant principal will provide an incentive for those students who passed the FCAT, SAT, EOC, and Pert.  Additionally, the principal will award a student of the quarter, an instructional staff of the quarter, and a non-instructional staff of the quarter.

Family counselor is also available to counsel the family if necessary.
