Those students with 10% or more days absent will decrease by 1%, from a value of 13.8% (2015/16) to a value of 12.8% for the 2016/17 school year.

2: Section #3: Strategies to be implemented

Unexcused Absences

In order to monitor excessive excused and unexcused absence, teachers use Pinnacle to take daily attendance. The attendance manager runs a report at the beginning of the following day using this data to determine if any teachers failed to enter their attendance. The assistant principal over attendance then follows up with these teachers to remind them to take accurate daily attendance so that we can run a correct skipping report. The skipping report is then processed and circulated to all teachers, who then follow up with individual students to determine the reason for the absence which will assist staff with identifying excessive absences. Additional reports are used to identify chronic attendance issues and further intervention take place with excessive or chronic behavior as outlined in the following Pattern of Non-attendance section.
 Person Responsible for Unexcused Absence: Classroom teacher, attendance manager, respective grade level administrator and guidance counselor

Repetitive behavior issues will be forwarded to the grade level administrator for consequences including internal suspension and loss of parking decal, while repetitive emotional issues will be forwarded to the school social worker or family counselor for one on one counseling and on-going health issues forwarded to the school guidance counselor or 504/ESE contact, who can formulate a specific plan to accommodate the student’s unique situation.
