Principal corner
Greetings!
As the newly appointed Principal, I will work extremely hard to ensure that ALL McArthur High School students are afforded the opportunity to be successful. In fact, there are many journeys throughout high school that lead to a successful high school career. I would say that the pinnacle of these successful journeys would have to be graduation. Indeed, my hope is that graduating is the top goal for all students who attend McArthur High School. There is nothing more exhilarating to see then the translation of a student into a productive citizen in society.
Consequently, your child's education starts the moment he or she steps on McArthur's campus. It is imperative that students come to school prepared, ready to work, and with the right attitude. McArthur High School has an abundance of programs (including academic, social and/or athletic programs) for your child to get involved. Some of these programs are - after school tutoring, Saturday FCAT Camp, rigorous course offerings, advanced placement (AP) course offerings, an abundance of student clubs, organizations & activities, and a multitude of sports. All of these opportunities allow student's to become well rounded and more successful.
Please know that McArthur High School students will be challenged by our knowledgeable team-oriented staff every step of the way. Indeed, our giving staff will be paramount in allowing your child to grow and mature into the successful person we know you would want your child to become. Please feel free to meet the entire school staff on September 7, 2010 during open house.
Finally, keeping in line with a team-oriented approach, we certainly would like to encourage our parents to be part of the team by getting involved in their child's education. A few ways parents can get involved are: school volunteer, School Advisory Forum (SAF) and School Advisory Council (SAC) meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 P.M. Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is looking for members. Please be on the lookout for PTSA meeting dates. Please keep in mind that if you do not have time to volunteer, you still can keep abreast of your child's education by contacting our guidance department, or logging onto Pinnacle to look up your child's grades & attendance. Virtual Counselor is another useful tool for keeping track of your son/daughter academic history and test scores. It takes all of us (the student, the parents, the faculty, the staff, and the administrators) to make sure all McArthur High School students have a successful journey.
I look forward to a great Mustang year!
