     HARCOURT TROPHIES FCAT QUESTIONS

Who are we?
We are experienced social workers, psychologists, nurses, special educators, guidance counselors, and teachers who now work at the district office.

What do we do?
We develop policies (attendance, enrollment, confidentiality, medication, ESE and 504 for Discipline, etc.)
We design programs and support systems for students (peer counseling, exceptional student education, family counseling, academic advisement, health services, prevention programs, etc.)
We provide staff development and resources (threat assessment, reading strategies, child abuse procedures, substance abuse prevention, anti-bullying strategies, character education curriculum, etc.)
We develop community partnerships to support kids and families (mental health agencies, ChildNet, Broward County Health Department, Interagency Council, Broward Inclusive Child Care, etc.)

Why do we do it?
Student achievement matters – and so does the kind of people students become. We support the direct service providers in bolstering student achievement and in modeling and teaching the skills students need to be successful.

"People without information cannot act responsibly. People with information are compelled to act responsibly"   Ken Blanchard

A main purpose of this division website, The Curriculum Chronicle, is to communicate and provide curriculum related information to students, teachers, school administrators, and parents. As a department within the Curriculum & Instruction / Student Support division, the Core Curriculum department is following this lead with web links and resources to specific curricular information.
The Core Curriculum department represents and supports the core academic subjects available to Broward's K-12 students. These core academic subjects include art, language arts, mathematics, music, physical education, reading, science, and social studies. Staff support and resources are made available to the students, teachers and school administrators of Broward County Public Schools.
The Core Curriculum department also represents the Advanced Academics department, Primary Education department, the Learning Resources department, Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.(JROTC), Drivers Education, Saturday Science, and Student Enrichment in the Arts (SEAS). These departments and programs further enhance and support the core academic areas for the students of Broward County.
I encourage you to "bookmark" The Curriculum Chronicle as a favorite website. Navigate through the information and resources available and return often. Dedicated staff are assigned to monitor, update, and maintain The Curriculum Chronicle so that the most current and correct information is available and easily accessible.
