What do we treasure?
![]() Project Desciption:
GLIDES teachers coached their students through this technology-enhanced project. Students responded to the essential question "What do we treasure?" by creating multimedia presentations, movies, public servicce announcement, and printed media.
Teachers/Classes:
Suzanne Gagne Millsap (6th Grade Science) -- We Treasure Cells: Students researched the microscopic world of cells and presented the information using digital images, multimedia presentations, and movies.
Miderland Alexis (7th Grade Science) -- We Treasure the Human Body: Students researched body systems and their diseases. They learned to treasure their bodies and created pubic service announcements to explain body systems. Jennifer Stratos (7th Grade Language Arts) -- We Treasure Classic Literature: The students read teh class story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Using this treasured piece of literature as a guide, students recreated scenes and filmed their results demonstrating their understanding of both the important message in the story and of various literary devices. ![]() Colleen Sweeney (7th Grade World Geography) -- We Treasure the Seven Wonders of the World: Students explored the treasures of the Seven Wonders of the World and created newscasts about each of them. Julie Winninger (7th Grade Reading) -- We Treasure the Everglades: Students expanded their understanding of reference and research skills by exploring treasures of the Florida Everglades. Students created multimedia presentations to demonstrate their knowledge. Christina Lambard (8th Grade American History) -- We Treasure our National Parks: Students research all aspects of the national parks and monuments. They created multimedia presentations and movies to explain why we treasure places. Lisa Wood (8th Grade Language Arts) -- We Treasure Literature: Students read a self-selected novel, explored the plot, and demonstrated their understanding by creating a comic illustrating the literary elements of their book.
