Essential Question:
Is the protection of the Everglades
a civic or government responsibility?

Project Desciption:
All aspects of the Everglades were explored as this team of teachers and students sought answers to the question of whether the protection of the Everglades is a civic or government responsibility. Two separate field trips were arranged for students to tour and explore the Everglades. Students took video footage and still images that were used as the foundation for many of their projects.

Mrs. Kushner (6th Grade Reading): grade reading students formed groups to research the habitat, birds, water, and history of the Everglades. Students used multiple forms of technology such as "live" news reports from the Everglades on environmental issues, an interactive Jeopardy game to test student knowledge of birds as well as well as a video of a "riot" based on an original script between developers and conservationists .

Ms. Ludovici (ESE Reading 6-8: Students researched and joined an environmental group associated with the Everglades. They also created an informative video detailing what they learned in the process.
