Essential Question:
How do our everyday choices affect the environment?

Project Desciption:
Student projects focused on "green issues" and how each person can choose to help. As a result of their efforts, the first graders begin a school wide recycling program that continued after the projects were completed.

Teachers/Classes:
Lisa Scott (Grade 1): Student researched recycling and caring for the environment. They interviewed school maintenance staff, created games made out of trash, and made slideshows of their work.

Colleen Scalese (Grade 1): Students researched recycling and created videos on composting and the ABC's of recycling.

Janet Jones (Grade 1): Students researched recycling and energy conservation. They created videos explaining methods of recycling and created art work with recycled trash.


Victor Yuen (Grade 3): Students participated in robotics team activities highlighting alternative energy forms.

Elizabeth Holste (grade 3): Students researched energy consumption, conducted home energy use surveys, and created videos depicting ways to save energy.

Janet Jackson (Grade 4): Students researched water usage, water conservation, and its impact on the environment. The had guest speakers, visited a local water treatment plant, created a podcast and videos about water conservation.
