Essential Question:
What influence can Middle School students have on the environment?


Project Desciption:
Over 150 students were engaged in research projects that demonstrated their understanding of global environmental issues that people face from nations all around the world.

Teachers/Classes:
Mrs. Gresham's (6th Grade reading) students wanted to make school age students aware of the consequences of neglecting the environment through a collaborative story researched, written and illustrated by the class utilizing the iLife Suite of software.

Mrs. Folger's (6th Grade Reading) students created a series of information videos about how we as humans affect environmental issues. The video, created for third graders, teach younger students how they can start helping out now. This project will continue into the second semester with students visiting Peters Elementary to share with the 3rd graders.

Mr. Gerard's (7th Grade Algebra Honors) students created a Powerpoint presentation to show how schools can benefit from going green and utilizing environmental friendly methods of operation.

Mr. Ledgister's ( 8th Grade Language Arts) class created commercials about the effects of different types pollution effecting our environment. Students presented their knowledge through Public Service Announcements utilizing MovieMaker software.


Mr. Levinson's (Grade 7 Geography) students collaborated on an international survey to discover how students around the world feel about environmental issues in the respective regions. They utilized Excel to create spreadsheets and graphs of the data, MovieMaker to tell the story of their work and GarageBand to create an original soundtrack.

Ms. Modafferi's ( 8th Grade Language Arts) class focused on persuading their peers to make a positive impact on our environment by creating commercials in MovieMaker.

Mrs. Vitrella's (8th Grade Science) students created a series of movies in MovieMaker on a variety of topics to illustrate how students can help save the environment.

Ms. Rubio (Reading Coach) supported teachers and students in the coordination of materials and scheduling as they progressed through their projects.

Mr. Burke (Teachnology Specialist) supported teachers and students with technology.
