Essential Question:
How can the Cub community make the world a better place?

Project Desciption:
Students in grades 2 & 3 studied the 9 character traits used in the Character Education program of Broward County. Student read books, did research, and took photos and videos. Then students created multimedia products (podcasts, presentations, movies, and concept maps) to display their solutions in making the world a better place.

Teachers/Classes:
Marcia Fay's Grade 3 students and Michelle Rothacker's Grade 2 studied cooperation and responsibility and how the traits impact themselves and others. Students took photos, created podcasts, and comics to show how good character and responsibility follows us through the day.

Melode Gorman's Grade 3 students read the book The Kindness Quilt. Based on the book students make their own kindness squares and created a quilt. Using digital camera, students photographed each square. The photos were uploaded and used to create a movie about kindness.

Denise Puckle's Grade 2 students and Merrilee Fazio's Grade 2 students set out on a mission to show that even second graders can change their school environment and community. The classes studied self-control and respect. They documented their work using concept maps, podcasts, drawings, and word documents.

Martha Houck's Grade 3 students studied tolerance. They created a podcast to predict what they thought the word meant and surveyed the class to see who the students were most tolerant of. Students then used concept maps and multimedia presentations to show their work.
