About DETA

This is part one of a two part series. DETA 1 and DETA 2 are graduate level courses which are part of a professional development partnership between the School Board of Broward County and the Teaching and Leadership Center at Florida Atlantic University. Both courses are co-taught by FAU professors and School Board of Broward County instructors. The school board pays the tuition for Broward County teachers to attend.

About This Episode

In this episode Dr. Jeanine Gendron, Director of Instructional Technology and Dr. Robert Parks, School Board member of Broward County Schools, will guide you through an overview of the DETA 2 course.

DETA 2 moves from the theory and development of a inquiry-based project learned provided in DETA 1 to a hands-on experience with using digital tools and resources through the course of project-based leaning experience. DETA 2 focuses on the use and management of digital tools in the day-to-day practice of using technology in teaching and learning. Teachers experience hands-on exploration of a variety of digital tools that can enhance student learning. In addition, to going through the process and development of a 21st century project, teachers in DETA 2 will learn alternative assessment methods to assess student learning.
