National Board Certified Teachers
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is an organization of teachers and other education stakeholders working to advance the teaching professional and to improve student learning. National Board Website.
There are 1652 National Board Certified Teachers in Broward County, representing 12 certification areas.

Support and Workshops for National Board CERTIFICATION Candidates (NBCCs)
- Candidate Support Days offer sessions on videotaping, writing to the standards and the assessment center.
- Analytical and Reflective Writing are scheduled in a variety of locations on weekends and after school.
Florida Excellent Teaching Program
The state legislature funds the Dale Hickam Excellent Teaching Program which rewards teachers for excellence in teaching by providing an annual bonus to teachers who have earned certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

Broward Guild of Teachers
The guild is a group of Broward County's most outstanding teachers. Many members are National Board Certified Teachers, Broward County Recognition Award recipients and/or District Teachers of the Year and finalists. Broward County Recognition Program (BCRP) Award recipients and National Board Certified Teachers are invited to join the Broward Guild of Teachers. Membership is offered to other teachers in the District through an application process.
Meetings and Workshops for National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs)
- Mentor training is offered to all Broward County National Board Certified Teachers weekends and after school.
- National Board Teacher Network provides an opportunity for NBCT’s from around the county to share their ideas and strategies about bringing the professional standards into their classrooms and school environments. Round table discussions address concerns related to mentoring and retaining teachers in our schools, county, and state. Further information is available on the Broward’s NBCT Updates CAB conference.
