Partners and Support

Volunteers and community organizations play an important part in the Head Start Program. Volunteers assist with classroom activities, parent education and recruitment of other volunteers. Donations of goods, services and time count toward the 20 percent non-Federal share of the Head Start budget. Business people, high school and college students, housewives, parents of Head Start children, retired senior citizens, professionals, and members of service clubs and organizations are needed. Whether they are in the classroom or behind the scenes, volunteers and community organizations are vital to the program and to the children and families that they serve.
