MISSION

The mission of the Grants Administration & Government Programs Department is to maximize resources available to the school district to improve educational services, and to ensure accountability in the use of those resources.


FUNCTIONS OF THE GRANTS ADMINISTRATION & GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT
  • Disseminating grant funding opportunities from local, state, federal and private sources to schools, Innovation Zones, and district departments;
  • Providing technical assistance, proposal review, editing, budget development, and writing assistance;
  • Coordinating inter-departmental grant proposal development;
  • Submitting proposals to funding agencies on behalf of schools and Innovation Zones (including preparing forms, acquiring signatures, and obtaining school board approval);
  • Providing results-driven training to schools, Innovation Zones and departments in grant proposal development, grant financial management, and district grant processes;
  • Maintaining a database of all grant proposals submitted and funded in the district;
  • Producing various reports and publications for the School Board, the district, Innovation Zones, and schools;
  • Tracking federal legislation, appropriations and regulatory actions that affect grant programs operated in the Broward County Schools;
  • Reviewing all grant Board Agenda Items;
  • Assisting with budget amendments, program amendments, and no cost extensions;
  • Assisting with development/submittal of grant program performance reports to funding agencies;
  • Assisting with site monitoring visits by funding agencies; and
  • Serving as an advocate for grant managers in identifying and resolving issues that impact grant program implementation in the district.

Through grant initiatives, our department seeks funding for effective programs that enhance student achievement, advance school improvement plans, and support district initiatives.

Meet the Team

Stephanie R. Pollard
Director, Grants Administration

Stephanie has 10 years of corporate administrative experience and 15 years of fundraising and non-profit management experience supporting education, social services, family empowerment, disaster relief, healthcare and affordable housing programs. She is a Florida native who grew up in Southern California but returned to Florida to be closer family. As Director, Grants Administration, Stephanie supervises all staff and administrative operations of the Grants Administration department.

Rebecca Reichert-Cuffe
Senior Manager, Grant Programs

Rebecca has over 18 years professional experience in program development and implementation, grant writing and program reporting, monitoring and evaluation in building community capacity and participatory governance, advocating for issues of importance to the underserved, and strengthening grassroots organizations throughout Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean. As Senior Manager, she oversees meetings and conferences in support of the grants management process and monitors grant development and implementation to ensure performance measures, including improved student achievement, increased teacher effectiveness and continued improvements in efficiency.

Adriana Ermoli-Miller
Manager, Grants Programs Oversight

Adriana has 13 years of program management and grantmaking experience supporting community development and human rights issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela and has happily returned to Broward County after living in New York City for 20 years. As Manger, Grants Programs Oversight Adriana works to improve the ability of the school district to raise funds by strengthening interdepartmental collaboration through increased communication, project management and technical support.

Megan Beddow
Manager, Grant Programs Oversight

Megan has over 10 years of program design and project management experience supporting education, youth development, financial stability, family services, and civic engagement within the US and Latin America. A Florida native, she enjoys employing her diverse experiences to enhance quality programs and find creative solutions. As Manager, Grant Programs Oversight Megan facilitates interdepartmental collaboration through standardized project management practices and tools for grant development in attempts to secure additional resources for the District's key performance outcomes.

Aston Rowe
Grants Administrator, Accountability and Reporting

Aston has over 21 years of experience in monitoring and maintaining the budget of the sixth largest public school system in the United States and the second largest in the state of Florida.  He was born in St. Ann, Jamaica W.I. and has been a South Florida resident for over 25 years.  As Grants Administrator, Accountability and Reporting, Aston works to develop and maintain a management and accountability system for funded projects while ensuring stewardship of grant awards to secure funding from federal, state, and private sources.

Derek A. Tillman, II
Office Manager (Confidential)

Derek has worked in office management for 15 years and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation and management of the Grants Administration office. His responsibilities encompass human resources, purchasing, and budget management functions as well as administrative support to the Director. Outside of the workplace, Derek enjoys spending time with his family and devotes time to ministry work in the inner-city.
