Go Green Program
SEEDS Committee
Design Services manages the Sustainable Energy & Environmental Design for Schools (SEEDS) Committee. The Committee meets monthly and provides research and environmental support and makes recommendations as a subcommittee SETACC. SEEDS periodically presents new environmental products, technologies and systems to consider their inclusion in the District’s green specifications or to recommend a pilot project at one of our school sites.Site Engineering & Environmental Permitting
A district-wide Site Engineering and Environmental Permitting process is in phase III of final development. It allows for the tracking of site and environmental permits, licenses and certifications required by state, county and local agencies at every site. The process includes an automatic notification to the responsible parties. This helps to avoid costly violations assessed by the agencies.
LEED
The District has adopted the nationally recognized green rating system, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). To-date Design Services has five (5) LEED Accredited Professionals on staff. LEED is used to measure how “green” our sites and buildings are and how involved we are in living and learning green and implementing environmental initiatives through recycling, renewable energy, protection of habitats, water and energy conservation, etc.
